Senior Configuration Management Specialist – LC4ISR Program

Job Description:
KWESST is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Configuration Management (CM) specialist to join our LC4ISR program in an Obsolescence Management role. This role focuses on the tracking and archiving of software data items as part of the LC4ISR Obsolescence Management process.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive obsolescence research across software, firmware, (Modified off The Shelf (MOTS), and Commerical off The Shelf (COTS) by coordinating with product owners and performing targeted online research to assess compatibility, identify software‑stack dependencies (including .NET and Java versions), and determine End‑of‑Life (EoL) and End‑of‑Support (EoS) timelines to support proactive lifecycle‑risk management.
- Track, organize, and maintain all collected obsolescence and dependency information—covering software versions, hardware requirements, licensing needs, and related configuration‑item data—and ensure accurate, up‑to‑date entry into the program’s designated database or tracking system.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the Obsolescence Management Plan including waiver management processes, data analysis and identifying obsolescence risks.
- Prepare and deliver clear, data‑driven reports and presentations on obsolescence findings to product owners, Subject Matter Experts (SME)s, and other stakeholders, summarizing compatibility issues, dependency impacts, and EOL/EOS risks to support informed decision‑making.
- Develop, refine and maintain work items and user stories within IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM). Including updating story status, acceptance criteria and related artifacts throughout each Program Increments (PI)s and Sprints.
- Participate in daily stand‑up meetings, PI planning events, and bi‑weekly retrospectives to support team alignment, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Support and lead special projects aimed at enhancing the obsolescence management team’s profile, effectiveness, and organizational value, including process improvements, tool enhancements, and initiatives that strengthen collaboration with product owners and SMEs.
- Update, refine, and maintain team processes and procedures in Confluence to ensure documentation remains accurate, current, and aligned with evolving obsolescence‑management practices and program needs.
- Maintain awareness of and adhere to ITAR and CGP requirements, ensuring all work products, data handling practices, and communications comply with applicable export‑control regulations.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an active SECRET security clearance
- Must be eligible to be vetted as part of the Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience to qualify as a Senior CM specialist
- Proficiency in CM tools such as Confluence, IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), Jira, or similar
- Experience with software life-cycle management is an asset
- Experience with software obsolescence is important
- Experience in Data Management (DM) and Configuration Management (CM) best practices
- Certificate in Information Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with MS Office, especially MS Excel and Sharepoint
- Experience with data gathering using Google and AI tools
- Familiarity with DOORS Next (DNG) is an asset
- Good understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
- Understanding of Controlled Goods Program and ITAR processes is desired
- Knowledge of SAFe Agile principles
- Understanding of the DND organization is an asset
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are a must
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills are a must
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
